To be honest, I think calling this an elegant black finish is pushing it a little bit. The putter is face balanced and features a double bend shaft, so it is ideal for golfers who either already have very little rotation in their stroke, or want to try and decrease the amount of rotation and arc that they have. The R-Line Arrow is a large rounded mallet with a distinct arrow shape cut into the back cavity of the head, and a clear white alignment band running horizontally from front to back. There's only one way to decide if a putter is worthy of a place in your bag - get out on the golf course with it, to see whether it can live up to the pressures of a proper round and help you hole some more putts. The putters come in a 'rich black finish', hence the name 'Black', which is said to give the putters a clean and premium look. The Stroke Lab Black putters feature a Microhinge Star insert, and this provides all the same benefits of the White Hot Microhinge whilst also providing a firmer feel and better sound at impact. Odyssey's White Hot insert has been one of the most popular among professionals and amateurs over the years, and this was enhanced in the O-Works range when they introduced Microhinge, which was said to improve the quality and consistency of the ball's roll. The result of this is that it can rebalance the feel of the putter and improve the speed and consistency of your stroke, for a more repeatable movement with the flat stick. The multi-material Stroke Lab shaft, which we have seen in Odyssey putters over the last couple of years, is able to save 40 grams of weight which can then be redistributed to the head and grip end of the putter. The Rossie and R-Line Arrow may not boast the 'Super-high MOI' characteristics of the Bird of Prey and Ten models due to their slightly more compact head shape, but there is still plenty of technology packed into the putters which are said to bring out your best on the greens. This time around, we're sticking with the mallet theme but looking at two more rounded shapes with the R-Line Arrow and the return of the renowned Rossie model. ![]() Last year we tested the futuristic Bird of Prey and Ten Putters and we were impressed with the firm-feeling insert and extra forgiveness offered by the super-high MOI design.
